@tokyo_0 In reading this thread, I am struck by the notion that this is great, but it's not something you want to do all the time. Having unfettered time is very important to my mental health, I've found. Be sure to leave yourself the space to just goof off.

@tokyo_0 I think it definitely depends on the individual. Some people thrive in a highly organized environment. Others, like me, begin to feel like they've created a prison for themselves. I am now in a profession with no set schedule at all and I'm the happiest I've ever been professionally.

@tokyo_0 It's funny, I was drawn to my current profession decades ago, but I didn't have enough faith in myself and spent way too many years working for other people. Now my days are entirely my own. If I decide one morning to take the day off, I can do that. Whatever you decide to do, I cannot recommend self-employment more highly. Find a way to work for yourself instead of someone else.

@tokyo_0 Understood. But always try to think of ways you can do what you love out on your own. The timing may not be right currently -- you might need to develop more expertise to do freelance consulting work for example -- but the opportunity will eventually present itself. Seize it when the time comes.
