     @big_louse cynical, sure... damaged, certainly, but still my favorite plural deity! You may be better off doing it at a US church, where they already have particularly low expectations. I guess getting a baptism is like getting a passport where you can look for the least annoying place to apply.

     @big_louse I could have been more cynical and given you the long speech on how love is just chemical self-addiction and maybe your should get that love monkey off your shoulder, but I see no reason to ruin love for you ;)

     But I do think the really tricky question is going to be how you find a sponsor.

     @big_louse oh, if your already baptised, maybe it is simpler. Perhaps there is a "short form" for that ;).

     Evangelicals depend on a very specific, and very bizarre reading of their bible which requires believing it as literal truth, the flood, adam and eve, etc, to explain why "they" alone are "special" and can do what they want, and everyone else is damned.

     well baptists they dunk you in a pool, the pastor dropped me, later i thought i was being possessed by a demon, maybe i was, a lot of evangelicals are very prejudiced against cahtolics like 'they worship idols', which is not true, Catholicism has a richer spiritual universe, in, american protestantism is just jesus and the devil, manichean as hell, also i do respect catholics have a doctrine, unlike the evangelicals who just make *everything* up, still in the latin american tradition have been many priests who maybe they weren't good people but supported socialism etc. i believe irish catholicism has a kind of working class mutual aide component to it, but the trad cath authoritarians are and always have been the ones in power, also the child abusers, this is a contraversial and offensive thing to say but i think they've been molesting kids since the very begginning , probably goes back to jesus too, so no, last time i was in a church i couldn't stop coughing, catholic church is the reason abortion is banned in many places, had to content underground network of feminists to get morning after pill once

     @big_louse I think catholisism indeed has a certain "flexibility" other faiths may not.

     For example, if the Pastafarian giant speghetti monster were to actually materialize, I am certain the pope would immediately decree the only valid intermediary between mankind and spaghetti monster is a catholic priest.

     @big_louse but there is also the idea of revolutionary theology in the catholic church, particularly in Latin America. They also have some working class constructs like Catholic Workers.

     Naturally I approve of your choice, as long as it is for cynical political reasons ;).

     @big_louse well, the Catholics often have a godparent for their converting, who is supposed to sponsor you, this seems to be at least for baptism, whether infant or adult. Hence, the premise of the movie the godfather. I do not know how they do "inter-denomination transfers" though...

     Incidentally I am not suggesting giving up on love. Even I am not that cynical ;).

     well i don't know what you mean by sponsor, to be a catholic would be easy, but to become honduran I'm getting married to someone i love deeply, so no i have not given up on love, i am big on love and all that, which is the *only* way to become a Honduran - the us immigration system basically is forcing me to wait to get married so that my partner can get status in the US, it is an absurd and cruel system designed to destroy relationships and people, so no love have kept me going this far,

     @big_louse the important thing to always remember is the goal of all religions is brain-washing. But I suspect you would not have much difficulty finding a sponsor if you do need to.

     yeah too much work, i will just speak about jesus opportunistically and selectively to make people think i'm a christian because being an athiest is a no go down there boy, god is all a lot of people have down there, honduras is basically fascist, an absolute police state with police trained by Israel, honduras is one of Israel's few allies actually, but hondurans are very conservative and the evangelicals anyway, they love putin and israel
