So annihilation.social, which seems to be an instance with known issues, is running a bot to identify and post about instances that are blocking #threads.
Other users are then using those posts to send messages to the instance admins asking them to justify their decision (to harass admins of instances that block #Meta, basically).

@tokyo_0 Hi, just trying to understand, is annihilation dot social "running" the bot or is it simply allowing the bot to be hosted on its instance? (Not that it would be easy to tell which is happening, I guess.)

except annihilation is on the most basic 100% list at Oliphant’s and if a server doesn’t at the very least use that list, I don’t know what to tell you.

@tokyo_0 yeah. I'm actually not sure if it's even possible to get the information the insurance has in an automated way without somewhere running an instance.
Incidentally— the bot doesn't seem to be *specifically* designed to post Threads blocks, it appears to post just literally all instance blocks. However, looking at the bot it does seem to be intentionally designed to drive harassment of instances which add blocks :(

firstly, if my instance blocks annihilation, a bot hosted there can’t access it to scrape info. So I’m guessing the person who received this message is on an instance that doesn’t block it.
And if someone even says they got their info from a tool run by one of the known bad instances I would think it’s pretty clear where they’re coming from.

What's really illogical is deliberately picking fights with other admins over their own choices that don't affect him in any way. It's really none of his damn business what other instances choose to do. -.- But then again, I'm stating the obvious.
There are more constructive things a 17-year-old can do with their time than deliberately pick fights. I hear good things about hobbies.

@tokyo_0@mas.to The bot seems to publish every defederation event it comes across (not just Threads) & they also have a bot that reports every user block it comes across. (see this)
If that isn't an obvious vector for abuse, I don't know what is.
On top of that, there's some racist stuff from one of their admins so it's a pretty terrible instance. alt-fedi is quite a deep rabbit hole to go down.
