This is a visual representation of societal inequality. The wealthy elite are protected by a barrier symbolizing privilege, while law enforcement guards their interests. The juxtaposition of a poor, sick dog eating garbage is a metaphor for marginalized individuals struggling in the midst of opulence and indifference.

To me the future of America looks like San Paulo back then, when elites boarded themselves in gated building with private security as the poor wandered the streets in torn clothes and were killed by army troops that patrolled each night... The whole thing of boarding up at night with their wealthy was like a version of the movie Omega man, with similar screams from the streets below at night.

gnutelephony (gnutelephony@floss.social)'s status on Thursday, 14-Dec-2023 20:35:23 JST gnutelephony @Radical_EgoCom at the time I was travelling the country as a guest of the Brazillian workers party, but sad to say, much like the French socialists of Mitterand's time, their leadership and supporters were drawn from the elites of their society. The real working class was down there in the streets fighting the police each night, while they stayed cozy and safe in their secure buildings along with the capitalists.

gnutelephony (gnutelephony@floss.social)'s status on Thursday, 14-Dec-2023 21:34:01 JST gnutelephony @VinesNFluff @Radical_EgoCom that description explains much. I went down to Puerto Allegra to speak at the world social forum, where they were supported by that huge enterprise, Procergs. That did not seem particularly progressive, either, as it seemed supported by the bribe, and they still tried to shop sex workers from gentleman's clubs for visiting dignitaries.

Our "Worker's Party" is sorta like the American Democrat Party (if decidedly less useless) in that they are the closest thing to a "left wing party that wins elections" but are mostly just capitalists but slightly populistic.
Still voted for them, tho. Better than the openly fascist alternative. -

Time functions differently there, unlike anywhere else, and so you can never be late. There was the coffee! And guava in everything ;).
