> Ron Shaich, Panera Bread's founder and former longtime CEO, has stressed how important it is for management and members of the C-suite to empathize with their employees and better understand what can get their buy-in to the company's mission.

> "No employee ever wakes up and says, 'I'm so excited. I made another penny a share today for Panera's shareholders,'" Shaich told Business Insider in an interview. "Nobody cares. You don't care whether your CEO comes or goes."clacke likes this. -

Jess👾 (jesstheunstill@infosec.exchange)'s status on Tuesday, 12-Dec-2023 06:08:14 JST Jess👾 Nah, even at corps where I've got RSUs or whatever, I don't care about our stock price. It's just deferred wages. I know I'm such a tiny meaningless cog in a giant machine that my specific labor has almost zero bearing on the rich people's feelings number about my corp, so I'm going to not actually put any emotional attachment about how much motivation I have for my work vs. the rich peoples' feelings number.

Rich Puchalsky :anarchism: (richpuchalsky@kolektiva.social)'s status on Tuesday, 12-Dec-2023 06:08:17 JST Rich Puchalsky :anarchism: CEOs and senior executives don't care about making money for shareholders either. They care about compensation for themselves, and usually this involves pulling some sort of scam to make short-term numbers for shareholders look good while depressing the long-term numbers.
