     Dear Dr. Freemo: Example: "I get sick and tired of the trolls on social media who bully other people. I believe if you get tired of the trolls bullying other people that could make you sick." Actually normally for me I get tired first and then I get sick.

     What is the origin of the phrase sick and tired?
     These hyperbolic expressions of exasperation imply one is weary to the point of illness or death. The first dates from the late 1700s, the first variant from the late 1800s, and the second variant from the first half of the 1700s.
