  And for group chats it's just a massive pain to get set up for everyone so it's better to leave it unencrypted anyway

  @dushman @Stellar some months back I tried to message meso on xabber.org and our messages just did not sync up it was a huge pain in the asscheeks it took minutes to recieve a message. After that experience and a few more asscheeks experiences I disliked xmpp

  @kirby @dushman @Stellar the only downside to xmpp is that most big servers require outright unnecessary certificates and authentications measures as "spam prevention" or some shit and therefore it's better to selfhost shit or ask someone you can trust to do it, at least that way you can be certain that there won't be issues with contacting your friends

  I would set up ejabberd but that's too big for my use case + documentation was lacking last I checked and prosody has the worst documentation I have ever seen
