Pointing out that white men have, at best, grudgingly given the vote to women also is a statement of how white men have, and continue to, maintain power. After all, black men got the vote many decades before women.

White people bring up slavery and how we should be over that by now but rarely mention how 100 years after the abolition of slavery, Black people were still less than fully recognized citizens of the US.
