It occurs to me that people who experience heavy psychosis or drug induced breakdown of normal consciousness usually report an intense increase in subjective sense of meaning. It's possible that a subjective sense of meaning is a default property of neural networks or even matter, and that detailed or deliberative thought actually dilutes this.
