   @gsuberland I had a g+ friend who was working on MITM attacks on Shimano CAN-over-power communication to try to get it to let him build bikes that had parts from different Shimano part groups.

     this is one of the most bizarrely overengineered and weirdly concocted systems I've ever seen, in a bad way, and "find the weird stuff" is literally my job. whatever the folks over at Shimano are snorting, I want none of it.
