     I think it can be simplified further: Communists are classic con men.

     Their pitch starts with "things are not as they seem," and goes on to pitch to the mark what he wants to believe is true, like religion without the need for consistent thought.

     Every society develops second-stage parasites like this. The best societies remove them (exile, IMHO).

     Communists won the world over because they're masters of communication and presented it as something as "cool" or "rad" as rock'n'roll and rock'n'roll fans never cared about anything else than being cool. Posturing and seeking pleasures was everything to them.

     The masterful communists reinvented themselves and seized a new generation of youth with a new flavor of "cool" and posturing: the woke frenzi.

     This grandma was cool, but a useful idiot.

     Most of the people involved were not Jewish.

     However, they were fighting a war for freedom/democracy against authoritarian societies.

     They allied with Communists because Communism is a similar egalitarian philosophy to the post-FDR mixed economy of the USA.
