    @raintrees @c00p @ringo I have never heard of multi-track vinyl before.

      @c00p @ringo
      Multi track devices are typically built to maintain the individual tracks, so they can always be isolated for mixing and re-mixing.

      @c00p @ringo Isn't the quadrophonic bit handled in the electronics? Vinyl is basically one long groove cut with vibrations that are picked up by the needle, right?

      And just like in magnetic media, there were a whole lot of shenanigans going on to get more out of the vinyl:
      https://flypaper.soundfly.com/produce/vinyl-how-it-works-and-what-that-means-for-you/

      Typical pinouts of needle cartridge:
      Red=signal carrier for Right channel
      Green=Right channel grounding wire companion
      White=Signal for Left channel
      Black=Ground for Left channel

      @ringo I’m not sure.. I believe it needs to go through the 4 channel receiver. And you need a record that’s recorded with 4 discrete channels too, I think.

      I have the record player on top of my bookshelf going through a line amp into a “sound bar “ just to listen to records..

      I have the receiver, cassette player and reel to reel too but not currently hooked up.

      @c00p uh oh get it reset!

      yeah this jvc is a quadraphonic capable.

      i have all four pins on the stylus plugged in.. does that mean im already listening that way?

      it's using both RCA plugs. my previous TT was monophonic, the red was a dummy pin.
