      @mario It is especially worse because for example I'm used to Go.

      So in Go, I can just add the } wherever it's supposed to go, and then run the go formatting tool, and it correctly autoindents everything. But you cannot do this in Python, because, since space is syntax, there's no way to statically analyse the code and indent it how you're supposed to do.

      @AlgorithmWolf personally i prefer languages which have easy syntax for higher order function and/or function pointers and very strict type systems because i am a masochist :blobcatbondage:

      @mario It's mostly when for example you want to copy and paste

      Or when you need to undo a for loop, or add an exception catch, or stuff like this...

      You have to go and indent every single line in between.

      In C you can just add a } to the end and be done with it.

      @AlgorithmWolf ohhh, copypaste is a very good point, i had to manually adjust those whitespaces too. very very annoying :angry_bork:

      @AlgorithmWolf i never worked on a reasonable big python project, so my opinion of that might not be too valid, but i never ran into serious indentation errors when coding python :blobcatopenmouth:
      maybe it's an IDE thingy? :think_nyan:
      i mostly used spyder, jupyter notebook and pycharm

      @mario yus

      I don't claim Java to be superior to Python. I just find the whitespace being syntax just not very well suited for me.

      @AlgorithmWolf Programming language preferences are just like natural language preferences inherently subjective and based on personal experience. Claiming one language being better than another without even having any info on the problem domain is textbook ignorance :blobcatuwu:

      Work wants to move me into a Java team.

      I kinda hate the idea, but also I'm currently on a Python team, so it would be an improvement.

      Pls don't reply to this lecturing me on why Python is better. You have your opinion, I have mine. Thanks.
