remembering when Noam Chomsky went on RT to defend Russia's annexation of Crimea by saying basically "this is just like if the US annexed Cuba"

gnutelephony (gnutelephony@floss.social)'s status on Friday, 01-Dec-2023 20:16:26 JST gnutelephony @big_louse I have not spoken to him in about two decades from his choice of moral cowardice in regard to the Shac 7 trial. Even Stallman, of all people, who clearly did not understand the issues at the time, personally apologized to me, if years later once he finally did. Chomsky did have deep awareness at that time and yet chose to retain the privileges of personal political safety.

gnutelephony (gnutelephony@floss.social)'s status on Friday, 01-Dec-2023 21:23:55 JST gnutelephony @big_louse he was simply in full ostrich mode trying to be as hidden as he could be, while the iww was the primary driver for support of the shac 7. That's an amusing way to think about him, though ;).

So was chomsky just silent on the Shac 7 case or did he make some boot-licking statement?
