   Wayland users: what do you use to take screenshots?

   I'd ideally like to find a working version in the Debian repos, rather than pulling something in with git or whatever.

   (The screenshot utility is to document a project. It is not a project in its own right.)

     @jaco The version in apt does not, sadly. I'm going to set a keybind for grim, under a certain degree of protest. Thank you!

     @jaco This is rapidly approaching "project in its own right" status, which I genuinely do not want to split my focus to do.

     It's none of those issues, but also I'm trying to test some documentation I've written on a tight deadline and am not actually here to fix the test system in ways that don't actually impact my commission.

     It's just suddenly "whoops all wayland!" over here, which would be fun on my own time, but not on work time.

     Well, this is the first time in a while that I've had that old-school Linux "you'll have to hand-craft it" vibe.

     Which I'm usually here for, but really not this week. Because custom keybinds appear to be disabled in this cut-down version of KDE Plasma and I'm not here to explore the exiting world of xbindkeys alternatives under Wayland, I'm just keeping a very small terminal window hanging out on the desktop with me.

     Fullscreen workflow
     sleep 10; grim
     (followed by rapidly minimising the terminal window because I'm too lazy for any further automation)

     Region select workflow
     grim -g "$(slurp)
     select region
     enter

     @nytpu the cursed test system doesn't like this one either, remarkably. (But it does look like it'll fit the bill when I set up my own choice of Wayland based window manage, so thank you very much!)

     @HauntedOwlbear KDE Spectacle works great for me. I believe it uses the generic Wayland API so it should work everywhere other than GNOME: https://apps.kde.org/spectacle/

     Conclusion: @eobet's post convinced me to go and find a keyboard with a Print Screen key, which is bound to a fullscreen shot via grim.

     Definitely could have saved myself some time by doing that in the first place, couldn't I?
