@SuzyCreamcheese @pernia I don't have the patience for much of anything else, when a sufficiently advanced and feature complete true alternative appears, I'm probably ditching Linux entirely

@allison @pernia I find it weird people use fedora just cuz you are the only one I know who does. Likely just cuz my bubble but I it's like "there are people who actually use it"

@SuzyCreamcheese @pernia arch is nice if you can hack it but I mostly can't be bothered, too many fiddly little details to worry about

@allison @pernia I used debian for a long time but I heard some nice things about freebsd so I used that for a while. Then recently my bf was like I want to use arch (I helped him install it in vm but he still uses windows cuz he got into vr games) so, I started to play with it so I could help him with it and it started to grow on me.

@SuzyCreamcheese @pernia yeah this is very relatable, I pretty much learned one "linux" skillset (the debian/redhat one) to a passable level and now I'm extremely averse to venturing anywhere outside of that unless it promises me real gains which imo most meme linuxes don't

@allison @pernia understandable. It's kinda funny with me tho cuz I hate change (one reason it will be forever befor I touch wayland). One reason I originally left freebsd before coming back was I hated working with oss, and oss isn't as smart as alsa and pulseaudio it's OK. I tend to hate hacking on something if it means learning it

@allison @pernia I was on debian for so long because I didn't see why use anything else. I heard there are nice thing about freebsd but it's nice in ways that don't matter as much for me. It's less of a frankenstein of software, cleaner, the boot process makes more sense, zfs is cool. The frankenstein of software is both a good and bad thing about linux and I don't really take advantage of what is nice about freebsd
