If you've fallen out of practice of wearing a mask, this would be a good week to start again! COVID rates are rising because of a new variant, and because many people will have gotten sick over Thanksgiving. Your best protection is wearing a high quality mask.

@iDGS @luckytran Such a disappointment to see they'll be gone by the end of the year.

@luckytran and don't forget to get relevant vaccines. Everyone should get flu and COVID vaccines and some folks should get RSV and pneumonia vaccines.

@forensicgarlic @luckytran I continuously hear "get your COVID vaccine updates" from people who fail to realise that in many countries you simply cannot get that update unless you meet certain criteria - even if you inquire through a private health provider.

@forensicgarlic @luckytran "should" yes. But if your local health centre doesn't offer COVID vaccines unless you are at a certain age or have certain health conditions then you are kind of stuck.

@Yaminosenshi @timboard @luckytran Was refused entry to a climbing gym in Berlin recently for wearing a mask, because of “fear I would need to be rescued from 90 ft height”. And “all that mask wearing leads to a immune system without training”. Germans make up reasons to ignore reality. HEPA filters are switched off. Nobody stays home with a cold anymore and companies have issues staffing. Still there are gatherings and RTO enforced.

@timboard @luckytran not just American stupidity it’s the same in Germany no one wears them anymore I even heard one saying the Masks make you sick. It’s also because masks are normal in Japan since ages what also helps that Japan is a society where it’s less about the ego / the individual and more about society as a whole. There is a saying in Japan: the nail who sticks out gets hammered down

I never stopped wearing mine. Of course, it helps that I live in Japan, where a mask hasn't become a political symbol. American stupidity on full display.
