   Whenever I explain my #research at Google into mobile text editing, I'm usually met with blank stares or a slightly hostile "Everyone can edit text on their phones, right? What's the problem?"

   Text editing on mobile isn't ok. It's actually much worse than you think, an invisible problem no one appreciates. I wrote this post so you can understand why it's so important.

     @scottjenson Cursor thing reminds me of exactly why I wish smartphones would have at least kept arrow keys like PDAs and feature phones did.

     @scottjenson As a teacher, but decades of keyboard use, I have watched this unfold over the last decade with a slowly breaking heart. Instead of being able to put down thoughts efficiently, the act of writing is now slow and painful, and the flow of thought proportionally stunted.
     And you haven't even touched on the difference between delete and backspace, or ctrl-leftarrow, or ctrl home, or the myriad other ways of just working _fast_.
     But I fear you are right - adoption will be slow.
