   The Only Democracy In The Middle East, everybody: Israeli Minister of Communications has begun the process of shutting down Israeli paper Haaretz for being “anti-patriotic” when it revealed that Israeli Helicopters were responsible for killing civilians on Oct. 7th. Many eye witness accounts confirmed this only days after Oct 7.

     Millions of people over which the Israeli state exercises sovereignty have no political role in the Israeli state. We can accurately call that “apartheid,” not democracy (even in the denuded sense of electoral democracy).

     @josh 1) "Democratically elected" doesn't mean much if the press isn't allowed to tell voters when the leadership is lying 2) Netanyahu actively encouraged Hamas to come to power in Gaza at the expense of the PLO and Palestinian Authority, in order to sever Gaza from the West Bank and derail the Oslo process.

     @KevinCarson1 Attacks on press freedom are bad whenever they happen, but, like, can you not see the difference between counties like Israel that have a true democratically elected government and ones like, say, Palestine in Gaza where there are no elections at all?
