I got in the habit of buying #books by asking a nearby bookstore to just order them for me and its a good system, like, the place is in walking distance, they love to see my dog, they pay for shipping, they get the book pretty fast and when they call me about my book has arrived it is this whole event to me where I get real excited and go get the leash.
@Montaagge wow! I wish we have a store like that here. I guess shipping to the #Philippines just take far too long so no store wants to offer overseas ordering.
It was why I eventually accepted ebooks. I miss the smell of books (and it's easier to read from books than looking at a screen).
@youronlyone i love ebooks, but I am sentimental about paper books too. Anyways, Barnes and Noble emailed me that they arent supporting the nook anymore and all the .epubs I have are pirated anyways. When I like, buy, a paper book its always this intensely emotional thing where I just must have the relic object of a paperback copy even if I'm just going to give it to a friend or donate it to a library when I finish it. Having the paperback means I decided some book was important.
@Montaagge True! There is something with having a paper book even if you'll just give it away or just store it and not even read it.
I once had to buy an entire collection of books from a colleague even though I knew I won't have time to read them. There's some fulfillment knowing the books are there waiting for me.
I imagine myself one day sitting in some English solar(?) room reading these books, while birds are singing somewhere nearby, instead of the noise of cars.
