Published today: 👉 The latest Emissions Gap Report of the UN's Environmental Programme.
⚡ Its exasperated title is: "Broken Record. Temperatures hit new highs, yet world fails to cut emissions (again)" 💥
And indeed a broken record, but is anyone listening?
The figure shows that even the already existing fossil infrastructures are enough to blow right through 1.5 °C carbon budgets, and that is without the expansions and new developments so many are supporting.

1. The report's title page shows a circular diagram where a succession of wobbly circles indicate ever higher temperatures, like in a circular diagram of temperature development in a number of years. There is also a stylized record turntable pickup arm. The title is as quoted.

2. The caption of this figure reads: "Committed CO2 emissions from existing fossil fuel infrastructure, compared with carbon budgets reflecting the long-term temperature goal of the Paris Agreement". Existing extracting infrastructure's commitments are more than 3 times as high as a 1.5 °C budget, existing consuming infrastructure more than twice as high.
