     Exactly. How important is this?

     Because if it's existential then cut a deal with the UN. Democracy, human rights, go out the window. All that would matter would be pollution.

     If we knew both that a planet destroying asteroid was en route and that we couldn't stop it, well, let's just say that priorities would change.

     What was that line from alien? All other priorities rescinded? Like that.
