Fire To The PrisonsZionism is a settler-colonial ideology that endangers not only colonised Palestinians who are facing an ongoing attempt at genocide, but Jewish people the world over. It has lied by saying that the nation-state, an institution that has historically been incredibly hostile towards Jewish populations, is an institution of salvation & safety for Jewish people.
The Israeli state's claims that it represents all Jewish people is in itself, deeply & pervasively antisemitic. Jewish people are not a monolith, there have always been differing views & opinions & to claim that a single state, ruled by a coalition of right wing parties, represents all Jewish people everywhere has endangered people all over the world.
Genuine liberation of Palestinians also requires tackling antisemitism head on. These are not separate struggles where one group benefits to another's detriment. It's only been positioned that way by an institution whose only concern is maintaining power, like all nation-states, & they do that by driving wedges between people.
And most importantly, we're seeing strong evidence that that is no longer working. I'm repeatedly seeing Jewish solidarity with Palestinians in greater & greater numbers. That solidarity has always existed, it's just grown because the Israeli state can't rely on people to look away any longer.
It's always been true that no one is free until we're all free.
