ardour crashes every time you click between two clips. It's consistent, has happened to me since version 6.5 (when i started using ardour).
I could report the bug, but they'd tell me to do "try their official package". Why must stuff in the FOSS world be so mediocre....

@Humpleupagus @mischievoustomato Are you talking about the audio editor? If so, reaper is pretty freakin sweet.

Yeah. I use studio one in windows. 😒
But that's the only machine I use windows on. I have used the free trial of reaper on Linux though, and it works.
It looks like they just released a S1 for Ubuntu a month ago. I'm waiting to get a hp micro from my sister at Thanksgiving, so I can test run the linux version before wiping my main daw machine.

I run arch on all my Linux desktops, so I need a new x64 to install Ubuntu on. That's why I'm waiting.

I've always wondered how they know the trial is up. There has to be a file, right?

I prefer studio one because you can break out the various devices, e.g. mixer, timeline, midi editor, etc., into separate windows and it's midi editor is top notch. You can look at multiple tracks at once, overlayed and color coded. It helps, because I can see the tonic relationships and chord structure between the instrument tracks. Plus, when I run midi drums, I break each drum onto a separate track for mixing, so by overlaying them, I can see the whole kit in one window.
And it has a scratch pad to try stuff out without having to write it on the main timeline.
