eris (eris@akko.disqordia.space)'s status on Thursday, 16-Nov-2023 06:58:34 JST eris @tortitude LA has been like this way before car culture, but it used to have trolleys that connected everything and we still have the infrastructure for it but car and oil companies did away with them.
LA definitely sucks for leftist organizing though for sure, it's basically the DSA here running everything terribly and some tankies that fight each other-

Comrade Tortitude 🖤🧡🤍 (tortitude@kolektiva.social)'s status on Thursday, 16-Nov-2023 06:58:37 JST Comrade Tortitude 🖤🧡🤍 "Los Angeles can be a challenging context in which to organize direct action. Almost 13 million people live in the vicinity of the metropolitan area, but this population is spread out across a vast space. While public transportation is available, it is rarely accessible or rapid; this makes gathering difficult, whether for organizing or for actions. Most of the more radical political networks are more or less isolated, owing to geography, ideological conflicts, and the complications of identity politics." One more reason why I hate car culture. Car culture destroys communities and eases state control. #FreePalestine #LosAngeles #directaction
