   This was a difficult one.

   Here in Montreal, we had a dust-up between Palestinian and Israeli supporters at a local university that made international news. And we've had attacks on synagogues - just property damage, thankfully, but still pretty shocking.

   Leaders have called for peace and understanding, and I wonder what the extent of that should be.

     Although I believe diaspora communities can be a source for reconciliation, it may be too much to ask of people in times of war. I think the best we can expect is avoiding conflict here, probably by just avoiding people.

     I'm somewhat disagree.

     @evan I think avoiding violence is a must.

     Especially if you are outside of the region.

     @jonoabroad I agree. Our mayor, Valerie Plante, has done a great job setting that bar. Everyone deserves to be safe here, she said. I think it's a very realistic goal; just no violence.
