TIL that the original IBM PC keyboard had a pencil tray along the top where today's full-size keyboards have the F-Keys. (The F-Keys were at the left of the keyboard, vertical) #retroComputing

1. Picture of said keyboard: 10 F-keys on the left, in two vertical rows. The num pad is not yet spaced apart from the rest of the keyboard Scroll lock and Caps lock are on opposite sides of the space bar, where you’d expect Alt. (Which is in the top right, part of the num pad). The return key is vertical, not unlike it is on ISO keyboards, and Ctrl is where you’d expect Caps Lock (i.e. Unix-style). PrtScr is below the return key, where the alpabetic keys transition into the num pad. Above the keys is a long bar molded into the plastic from one end to the other, just large enough to stop a pencil from rolling off the angled surface.
