So Latvia, with it's gay president is finally passing a law for gay partnerships! Expected to come in effect July 1st. Except enough MPs have already said they're support a referendum, which means it could still be overturned if we Latvians can manage to be homophobic enough.
> If a referendum is held, the law can be repealed if at least half of the voters who took part in the last Saeima elections take part and a majority vote in favour of repealing the law. In the 14th Saeima elections, 916 368 voters took part, which is 458 184.
Which it probably will be held.
Anyways, they claim it's "abandonment of marriage" which is against Latvian societal values (yet so is gay marriage supposedly so what do you expect them to do? Partnerships was a concession to YOUR demands :meowThinking:)
