   @sara @midendian there is alas no immediate magic wand solution except maybe a second hand car that was built just before the surveillance era got earnest

   decades of complacency by the public, political capture and no regulation have created a consumption system that is in-your-face exploitative of users digital illiteracy. Anybody who can collect and sell data wants to get in the game

   awareness is growing but painfully slow

     I also hate that owning a vehicle is part of my household's survival kit, for multiple reasons, due to where we live.

     @sara ugh. I think this is another reason we need micromobility solutions to attack this from the other end. Electric cars are all spyware to the core but e-bikes are just bikes with battery controllers—dumb and easily repairable. The whole car paradigm is rotten and supported by the legal framework they’re licensed by.

     I'm deep in the extremely unenjoyable (trust me) process of trying to buy a car these days, the world really has to go and make it so much worse with shit like this
