Weekend #bitrot fun: Just discovered that Mac OS 12 Monterey no longer reads HFS disks. Was checking on some backups from late 90s on burned discs and disk images and was relived to find they still work fine on 10.13 High Sierra on an Intel Mac Mini I kept around. Kind of wish I still had a PPC machine that could boot Mac OS 9, but was able to get it going under emulation with #SheepShaver and it’s a trip to see Photoshop 3.0 on a window in my current Macbook.

  Shoutout to #LibreOffice for opening various 20-year-old+ word processing files without issue. Word 5 Mac, WordPerfect 3 Mac and Word Perfect 4(?) files from an IBM XT.
