I realized today that I'm still wrapping my mind around the Fediverse. For example, if I want a Lemmy account, do I have to have a separate instance from my Mastodon account or can they be the same (and if so, how?)

    Any help is appreciated.

@montecook you can follow lemmy users / communities / threads from mastodon (and post to them) if you like, but you can also make a lemmy account separately if you prefer (and that account can interact with mastodon ones / follow them, I think)

@montecook They each have their own "app" that is micro posts here, and threads there. Shared between each, they can send each other messages and understand them, but they'll frame those messages in terms of micro posts here, and threaded messages there.
