     @mushroom_soup There is an unshakable stereotype about geologists, that they lick rocks. This is because there are many, many rocks that can be most easily differentiated by taste and it is unlikely to hurt you.
     Chiefly this is used to differentiate very visually similar minerals. For example, Halite and Quartz.
