Got a new printer/scanner and of course the scan-to-ftp feature has been disabled in firmware. :blobcatreeeeeee:

Thank you, helpful Gentoo maintainer, for packaging brscan4 and documenting how to add a network printer. It's awkward but at least it gets the job done.
