   I mean, “but the other guy is even worse” is baked into the intrinsic nature of our political system; electoral politics are always going to converge there, regardless of political parties or changes within them.

   That said, I agree that even if our goal is just to create a coalition, however sad and frustrating, that can reach that 51% EC goal and stave off fascism, nominating strategy has to change.

     The democratic party *really* should present a younger person with less center-leaning policy goals and actually throw their weight behind them. Even if they are cynics trying to maintain status quo. The system we have has enough inertia to stop "falling completely in to socialism" or whatever the concern is and it would actually do something to rally people. Alas, who am I but someone random person who doesn't think that "but the other guy is *even worse than me so…*" is a sustainable pitch.
