   @moth_ball @Moon You think Microsoft, fucking Microsoft, wouldn't throw at the very least a cease&desist at you? Plus they likely have used code from other corporations (say for drivers), which are likely just as bad as M$.
   And due to it being proprietary, you're going to have even less people contributing than like ReactOS.

     @glitch @lanodan @moth_ball you guys are putting more thought into it than I did, you can download hacked up Windows 11 installs of bittorrent, just hack up a version of XP with updated TLS libraries that can play indie games

     @lanodan @Moon @moth_ball for where it counts, XP source code was leaked a couple years ago I think?
     
     the problem really is just that it's fucking radioactive unless Microsoft opens up the license. (which they might not be legally able to do, at least if you want a "functional" source code release rather than a source dump, since XP shipped with drivers on the install disc.)
