It's rarely been clearer that the Democratic party apparatus and donor class choose our politicians for us whether we like them or not, using fear of the alternative to shove them down our throats, and a lot of boosters treat critics as traitors so as to avoid holding the powerful accountable in any way.

Of course they want a captive audience (most people like job security) however the solution to the problem won't be found in the system but we must use the system so we can end it. Think of it as Lady Gaga'ing a problem.
Until we can organize and do, however, we need to make sure to limit the damage and that means no Nazis anywhere...

Nowhere Girl (gwynnion@mastodon.social)'s status on Sunday, 05-Nov-2023 05:58:23 JST Nowhere Girl Democrats tend to be hostile to voters because they don't like us having veto power. They prefer us as a captive audience. But politicians are supposed to be responsive to the popular will.
Biden has only very slowly backed away from unconditional support for Netanyahu's war on Gaza because he's seen it costing him personally in terms of reelection and legacy.

Nowhere Girl (gwynnion@mastodon.social)'s status on Sunday, 05-Nov-2023 05:58:24 JST Nowhere Girl It's bad enough having mediocrities foisted on us as the "inevitable," "safe" choice, especially when they crash and burn more often than not.
It's not great when the mediocre get treated as heroes for doing run of the mill things like infrastructure either.
But the wagon circling around someone supporting ethnic cleansing and mass murder is a lot to stomach.
Politicians need to know they won't be supported for doing terrible shit so maybe they will stop doing it. It's the only tool we have.

It's likely the same people control who the party and media turn into viable candidates, who has enough money to run these extremely expensive campaigns, and we are pressured to support that person regardless of their actual views and record because the other guys are literal Nazis.
