Because I’ve not been on Twitter now for nearly 18 months an interesting thing has occurred; none of my jokes have appeared word for word on Last Week Tonight. Whichever writer for the show followed me there does not follow me here.

Bethany Black (bethanyblack@mastodon.social)'s status on Wednesday, 01-Nov-2023 17:54:10 JST Bethany Black @otfrom it’s more annoying when someone on here does it, apart from when an animated sitcom where the showrunner and head writer followed me and took an entire bit of stand-up and made it a B-plot and never said anything. That was really annoying. Made me look like a dumb thief

But they know what they're participating. It's kind of hit and miss, though.

Bethany Black (bethanyblack@mastodon.social)'s status on Thursday, 02-Nov-2023 17:47:19 JST Bethany Black @eighthourlunch this is just a writer in the writer’s room who has to come up with X number of jokes in a subject who’s felt the stress and either nicked it directly without telling anyone, or just remembered mine. If the producers found out they’d be in a lot of trouble
