   Had to switch from my comfy emacs-slack setup, because Slack broke it somehow, so I've been using the official client. It is horrible.

   Every time I switch to the Space I have it fullscreen in, it flickers horribly as it, I guess, redraws stuff? What even is double buffering?

     @ieure whoa wait you had the emacs client working? I could never get it to connect but I really wish I had

     it's not nearly as nice as emacs but wee-slack is tolerable if you're looking for alternatives

     @ieure yeah the window and buffer management in weechat is a joke compared to emacs but still ... light years ahead of the official client

     I'd been thinking about weechat.el and figured I might take a look one of these days, but you're saying it might not be worth it?

     @technomancy Yeah, I've been using it for several years. It's, uh, not great in a bunch of ways, and the original author seems to have abandoned it, so any time Slack pushes an update that breaks shit (frequently!), it's the time of monsters in the Github Issues for the project.

     Even with the downsides, it's hugely better than the official client, because I can maintain multiple conversations at once, and I hacked up ERC-style `C-c C-SPC` rotation through any unread channels/threads.

     Before I got it working, I was using Slack in Emacs via weechat + wee-slack + weechat.el. Don't really want to switch back, it was kind of a fragile setup and not as good as emacs-slack IMO.
