   The #UnitedNations has announced the members of its High-level Advisory Body on Artificial Intelligence. We welcome that the UN as a global organization creates spaces to debate AI – and we hope it will prioritize its societal consequences (rather than focusing on future scenarios).

   However, #CivilSociety is massively underrepresented. 1/2

     @algorithmwatch There's a bunch of names in there I trust, at least (e.g. @abebab, @vdignum, Nighat Dad). Agree that more representation from civil society would be helpful, however. Are there any particular people you're thinking of?

     Civil society plays a vital role in shaping a globally inclusive approach to harnessing AI for humanity. Human rights expertise is crucial in understanding the impacts AI systems can have on people. So why are there hardly any civil society representatives and human rights experts among the 38 experts on the Advisory Body?!
