Friendly reminder that it's a federal crime not to play Green Day's "Jaded" immediately after "Brain Stew."

Just like I've been enjoying the occasional country-tinged songs like "5 More Minutes."
I guess this is growing up?

Joe Ressington (joeress@fosstodon.org)'s status on Monday, 30-Oct-2023 07:20:08 JST Joe Ressington @killyourfm it's actually a really good song and she's a hell of a singer. There's room for a bit of straight up pop in my life alongside rock and metal and drum n bass and everything else.

I'm still trying to figure out where my resistance to traditional pop and country music comes from.

Joe Ressington (joeress@fosstodon.org)'s status on Monday, 30-Oct-2023 07:32:48 JST Joe Ressington @killyourfm I think growing up musically means learning to judge each piece of music purely on its merits. Take away image and reputation and preconceived ideas, and just judge the stereo audio file for what it is.

Joe Ressington (joeress@fosstodon.org)'s status on Monday, 30-Oct-2023 07:41:38 JST Joe Ressington @killyourfm when you're young, music can often be a huge part of your identity. Specifically which genres and artists you're into and the various fashion trends that go with it etc. Humans are inherently tribal and as a kid you explore ideas of tribalism through music. But then when you get old enough to not care about being cool, you can enjoy a Miley song or two because they are great and she's an amazing singer.
