@nyoom @iska @dushman @tiskaan @SuzyCreamcheese I still contend that even if the FSF didn't get hung up on ideology they would be in no position to actually be pursuing practical solutions given the constraints imposed by the industry at large, and thus in a perverse sense ideology is actually the best thing for them.

  @mischievoustomato @nyoom @iska @dushman @tiskaan @SuzyCreamcheese sister org to the fsf/gnu headed by stallman specifically dedicated to opposing software patents as well as "look and feel" copyrights for program interfaces (in connection with the then-ongoing apple gui lawsuit against microsoft). it had success in dealing with the look and feel stuff but couldn't oppose the us eventually normalizing software patents.
