I file away all hatred of the Beatles under either "general American anti-British bigotry" or "stubborn ignorant zoomerism who want to step over the cultural baggage of the past". I do not actually believe anyone sincerely dislikes them on pure musical grounds, it's always some oblique political or generational attack on them that ignores their incredible corpus.

@augustus The worst thing I can say about the Beatles is that before the endless reflexive hate there was endless reflexive praise. They created an amazing amout of great pop songs but after a while you can get sick of hearing about how great they are and there's a lot more good music in the world to just have every top ten list put the beatles on top.

@mar77i They were not commies, that is false. Revolution contains a line explicitly attacking Maoists. George was into Indian mysticism, Paul was completely apolitical, John was a wife beating chad who later glommed onto US mainline liberalism for ego and career reasons, Ringo is a non-entity.

@augustus They were commies that smoked the loser weed all day, but I guess I would have to be having a bad day if I wasn't okay with you playing the Beatles in a room I'm in...

@augustus Hm, maybe, you might be right.
But I find little on whether they believed the communism they saw was real communism. Here's an AI generated straw man Beatles concert.
