   Fucking #gnome sometimes (most of the time). I've got a fairly intricate op to run tonight and under #kde I would be able to re-title all the shells I need to have open to run it but in Gnome? "Derrr, we removed that option... it was 2 hard 4 luzers to understand!"

   I swear to all that matters, the UX experimentation perpetrated by Gnome is a pestilence rivaled only by that of #systemd

     @hergertme @me If upstream GNOME Terminal forbids manually setting/pinning a custom title for a tab, that is a rather unfortunate decision in my humble personal opinion 🤷️

     The fact that GNOME Terminal (in Fedora at least) still lets me do this, and that GNOME Console hasn't implemented it (yet?) is 100% the one and only reason why I am not using GNOME Console (even though I would want to), no jokes. I can't keep track of my shite otherwise.

     For details. You can always set the escape sequence, but the title will often get immediately changed anyway through most shell configurations these days.

     So you'd really need a bit to both set the title, and ignore dynamic titles.

     @me GNOME Terminal lets you set any arbitrary title on any tab, whether programatically or through the GUI.

     I think that is a downstream patch for gnome-terminal in Fedora (or using an older release).

     It is a point of contention where the maintainer I think feels differently than the rest of us.
