The ONLY thing that matters about the Jews and the the Muslims and their tiresome little beef is this: how does it affect our society?
I see many effects, virtually none of them good.

I remember talking with a friend of mine years ago.
He said that what he hated about religion was that it denied that we (humans) were in the driver's seat.
That one stuck with me. The most religious people I know all believed that we were in the driver's seat and the divine was there to give us something to aspire to.
@amerika @greyknight33 @PNS this is a common conclusion. And to be fair is true of many sects/denominations, but not all.
@amerika @PNS bingo. its the last thing that is left else there's no purpose to life and thus no necessity for existence. oh yeah, we need to pursue it for it to prevail but the lie requires resources. once the resources run dry, the lie is not longer profitable. that leaves the truth... for it always is.
I think we can make things better in our lifetimes if people are able to come together on what we want.
Instead we get lots of divergent individualism.
@amerika @PNS divide and conquer ;)
in the end, truth always prevails... i wonder if we will see the great unraveling in our lifetimes :)
I do not at all think truth always prevails.
It prevails if we make it prevail.
Composting the under-115s worldwide would launch humanity to a new level of competence.
@amerika @PNS and it will happen... just not in our lifetime. gotta travel thru the end of Pisces first to transition into Aquarius
Imagine ten thousand conflicts of this nature.
This is what diversity brings: warring politically-protected groups fighting each other and only joining briefly to overthrow the former host majority.
@amerika @PNS and the craziest part is... they both make great hummus!
In my experience, the quality of the person determines the quality of the religious interpretation.
Your better, smarter, and saner people tend to favor human action; the lost herd is waiting for salvation from above or government to save them.
I feel them, but I do not think they are taking the right approach.
I suspect that humanity is going to turn a corner with religion.
That is, new religions will be specific to an ethnic group.
They will probably emphasize unknowability rather than knowability.
Their gods will be pragmatic more than idealistic, naturalistic more than moralistic.
But the essence will remain.
@amerika @ned @PNS ok i'm completely on board with this. the smarter, saner person knows their own action is required to make an effect on the world. only the low IQ heard can truly justify a magic force (or "elected" dictator) as the only way to salvation. can kinda see that in those who understand true religion vs institutionalized religion.
