Sigmund Freud was a literal fraud. He got pretty much nothing right. The Oedipus complex is nonsense, the Elektra complex is nonsense, psychoanalysis is all a bunch of things he completely made up, sometimes on the spot, often to cover for his own perversions. The man seriously presented a theory where the cause of paedophilia was not adults preying on children but the child itself lusting over his parents and seeking sexual gratification thereof. Incidentally, his grandson raped a bunch of kids.

That wasn't the theory though. His theory was that he didn't actually know what was wrong with the patient, but that the issues could be dealt with through solving a psuedo-problem.
Think of it this way, if I can get you to believe that all of your problems stem from some childhood trauma, then I can solve your problems by addressing the childhood trauma. That doesn't entail that there was actually any trauma in your childhood.

@Humpleupagus @Wolffkran I don't think freud was wrong about people having issues because of their parents. But he veered off into weirdo town by trying to make everything sexual.

@Humpleupagus @Wolffkran It was dubbed the (((Talking Cure))) by (((Bertha Pappenheim))) after her sessions with (((Josef Breuer))).
(((Sigmund Freud))) used that to establish (((Psychoanalysis))) which later evolved into (((Psychotherapy))).
A lot of this was actually based on hypnotic influence and suggestion. Or "jew magic" as some might call it.

And it also derived elements from the confessional and the priest-penitent relationship.
