     @Moon There are 600k-700k cameras and they do bugger all. The police are afraid of being seen as racist, like they were afraid when rape gangs were at large.
     
     They'd rather investigate minor infringements like hate crimes rather than crimes like shoplifting and vehicle thefts. Steal up to £200-£250 of items, the police won't come.
