     @bunnierabbot i've used debian since squeeze.
     if i want something off limits to writes i make sure it in a signed squashfs that is mounted. signing keys dont live on the box.

     You can not edit anything in linux or alter it, without root enable. It as having training wheels on without root access like 3 year old.

     @bunnierabbot if it needs root then it gets treated with a deeper level of respect than i'd give a wayland or x11 application.
