    Do you want to schedule your posts on Mastodon? There are many options you can use to do this.

    Some third party apps including Tusky and Fedilab have a built-in scheduling option. Fedilab also runs a website at https://plan.fedilab.app which lets you schedule posts.

    If you want a professional scheduled post management system, there are third party commercial services such as https://publer.io and https://buffer.com that now include Mastodon compatibility.

      @Eagain

      Some people need to do announcements to reach specific time zones, and it's especially important on here as the timelines are chronological.

      I don't think it's fair to assume scheduled posts are spam.

      @feditips why would a human want to schedule a post?

      Is there a way for humans to silence these kinds of automated spam posts?

      It's not quite the same situation, because instagram, facebook etc don't use chronological timelines.

      Scheduling posts on Fedi is more about reaching people who are awake when you are asleep etc.

      @feditips though I get the convenience of automated scheduled posts, I enjoy it here precisely because if you see a recent post you can reply with the knowledge the poster is probably there to see it. If this place turns into autopost central it will lose all charm for me. Like facebook and instagram have.

      I'm not sure, but if you need a professional system you could try the free versions of publer or buffer to see if they support it?

      There's no official interface for the scheduler, despite it being built into Mastodon. So people who use the official web or apps will not be able to access this feature, it's only available through third parties that use the API.

      @feditips mastodon.py can also easily do this since it is built into mastodon. It’s just an option of a normal post, nothing magical.

      The only way that could happen is if people are using a scheduling-only platform like Buffer etc and they have also chosen to show what client they are posting from.

      For privacy reasons, people cannot be forced to show what client they use.

      @feditips Similar, but without having to set date and time, instead you'd set a posting frequency, and then instead of selecting post or schedule, you'd select queue/add to queue.

      Ah, interesting situation.

      As far as I know the only options with advanced scheduling stuff would be third party commercial services like those linked in the original post?

      @feditips @taurnation is primarily a link share group, and sporadically I get around to going through the various art galleries where I follow artists that draw taurs and the like, which results in a flood of link posts. I try to space them out somewhere between 20 and 40 minutes, but not only do I have to keep track of the next time slot, it's possible to max out the scheduler.

      @feditips @taurnation Seems that way, though it seems like it'd be easy to do this client side, so I'm surprised no one's done it yet, after all the client would just have to know how often to check a file for posts and send the oldest one that's there. I think it's something I might be able to script using Toot or similar, but I wouldn't know where to start.

      @shadowsminder

      In Mastodon, if you go to Edit Profile > Privacy & Reach > Display from which app you sent a post, and then untick this box and save changes, it will not show anyone which app/client you used.

      I've learned that Buffer shows it was used for posting (the way "Web" or a downloaded app does) so thank you for replying.
