@tiskaan This is why I don't run vintage commodore 64 stuff and just emulate it, too much of a hassle.

@tiskaan I am running real hardware for NES, SNES and Sega Genesis but for everything else I emulate.

@Moon yeah if there was a decent ecosystem for software that worked that satisfied normie computing needs (typesetting documents, emails, searching/reading for information and communication through the internet) and just that then i wouldnt mind using some antique heirloom for most stuff even if i lost out on a little convenience.
i guess you can argue that just using loonix and CLI is just that lol but i havent seen someone use an old ass computer that way lol

@tiskaan Just emulate everything and don't even worry about it, emulation gets you 99% of the way there. You don't need real hardware of FPGA unless you're extremely picky and old enough to tell the difference, or want a couple of the games that don't emulate correctly.
I keep a high quality CRT around but even that has been gathering dust lately, I use an HD upscaler most of the time now.

@tiskaan I got a mister which is great, it does have a special adapter for very low latency controller connections but even I just don't notice the difference and just use USB controllers.

@Moon @tiskaan Yes, 99% of games are fine on emulators. Good luck if you want to beat punch out on an emulator though. Emulator lag makes the later boxers practically unbeatable. This is mostly a problem for certain nes games. Later consoles had more input lag, so games were designed for it.

@Rocket @tiskaan A lot of HD televisions have unacceptable lag too, even the ones with game mode.
