To answer's Aaron question because I'm sure others will wonder: Typically the way is to use a Makefile or equivalent build-system, but I guess these days generating hundreds if not thousand of pages can be fast enough.
(Which reminds me that the slow part of my clobbered together website is compressing some big pages with brotli) -
